and maybe in the end
our flowers will bloom upside down
and when the wind goes wild
you’ll still feel like a grown-up child
oh can we shake this off?
this daylight covering all we’ve fought to keep in darkness
and maybe it’s the truth
skies will always be a shade of blue
but the birds can stay on ground
and our feet can sink into the clouds
for nothing’s set in stone
we still have room in roam in fields of wild thorns
tell me something about the rain
is it moments away?
is it holding the change we’re out to seek?
tell me something about the sun
is it growing inwards on us?
no safe and sound will amount
to a life of unexpectedness
and maybe we don’t know
how far we’ll go into our dreams
but all i know, my love
is we’ll build a hill of strawberries

Highway Island
03:42
|
|||
if the night could speak
it’d tell you to ache endlessly
and if I’m like you
I’d let it
you’d coast around
‘cause freedom lives in that space between
the pavement and a driver’s seat
I’m not small anymore
but I still take after you
dark clouds when it’s sunny out
can we get off somehow?
of highway island
of the round and round
it’s safe in hiding
but we’re in circles now
if I followed you everywhere
I’d not know when to stop
until we reach the same end
if your thoughts could cruise
from 20 to 92
the miles would stretch
as long as you’d let it
and I’m like you
let feelings sit till they’re overdue
but you know I can’t do that with you
I’m not mad anymore
but I know you’re still in pain
dark clouds when the sun’s still out
we have to get off somehow
of highway island
of the round and round
it’s safe in hiding
but we’re in circles now
can’t follow you everywhere
oh I know that soon you’ll stop
can’t want to leave unless it’s on your own
but we’re waiting for you to get home
of highway island
of the round and round
it’s safe in hiding
but we’re in circles now
if I followed you everywhere
I’d not know when to stop

Fractals
04:03
|
|||
are we just smaller versions of a bigger whole?
are you the rivers in your veins?
am I the flakes that become snow?
you might believe that everything is broken
fragments of sentences we haven’t spoken, but maybe…
are we just jagged lines across a buried seed?
are the shapes inside of sun disks
the same as the arms of trees?
been saying we’re a shell of what we used to be
or maybe we’re smaller
are we just smaller?
I get lost in finding comfort this time
fractals all around us in hopes that I have found us
there’s beauty in these broken designs
now i know there’s nothing to be fixed
can we exist unfinished?
are we just clouds in the northern hemisphere?
taking up dreams I’ve leaped for, but that you’ve always feared?
you’ll get mad at the world for spinning round and round
looking for a forlorn safe and sound
I get lost in finding comfort this time
fractals all around us in hopes that I have found us
there’s beauty in these broken designs
now i know there’s nothing to be fixed
oh I know if the miles get long
I’ll still see you up the road
even though this is all unknown
I’ll keep carrying a little hope
that these lines will stretch on and on and on…
are we just searching for a highway map?
are the lines between us just a path to a vacant past?
but you still make me think of what we used to be
so maybe we’re smaller
are we just smaller?

Crow's Feet
04:28
|
|||
can't call back where I left you last
are you stuck in the past?
near the trees that grow all our memories here with me?
still see your smile in the miles of our wing
the sound of you singing
in the rain that washes away my doubts
I guess I'm just scared of remembering less
of the way you smiled today
and I know that these moments
they come and they go
but I wish I could hold on longer
mind built roots on what we have made
behind coconut lakes
starry hopes that sit on the steps of our station
and these eyelines carry more than my age
what's real is in the weight
of days as clear as your gaze in morning haze
I guess I'm just scared of remembering less
of the way you smiled today
and I know that these moments
they come and they go
but I wish I could hold
I could hold
can I trust this mind to count the hours I spent here with you?
they said take your time
but why do I feel like it's all running out?
I don't mind, I don't mind holding on longer
I guess I'm just scared of remembering less
of the way you smiled today
and I know that these moments
they come and they go
but I wish I could hold
I could hold

Mosaic Mind
04:35
|
|||
mosaic mind,
spent time making sense of your charm
bend of your arms
or the stillness in your eyes
mosaic mind,
built by hand, jewels and cement
can’t comprehend
carved out silent mirrors of the sun
brokenness mistaken for beauty
guess that mess will never break through me
if we only knew
what few can change
maybe it’s all that we can say after all
mosaic mind,
can you find it in your heart to talk to me?
don’t let your hues fade to gray
you can’t even speak
mosaic mind,
where’s the sign that you’ve given it to me?
I’m tired of trying to grab onto
all that used to be
beauty mistaken for brokenness
losing sleep over words unsaid
if we only knew
what few can change
maybe it’s all that we can say after all
if we only knew
how much could change
maybe it’s all that we can say after all
